Backend & API

Services and data that hold up under load, under recovery, and under review six months later.

  • Node.js
  • Python
  • PostgreSQL
  • GraphQL
  • REST APIs

Our approach

  1. Model the domain first

The data schema comes before the code: it is the most expensive decision to reverse later. Where your existing model holds up, we build on it instead of replacing it.

  2. Expose stable contracts

Versioned, documented APIs designed to be consumed by teams other than ours.

  3. Make operations visible

Structured logging, metrics and alerts ship with the service rather than being added after the first incident.

Typical use cases

Make your data usable

The package does its job well, but it was designed at a time when nobody expected it to talk to the rest of the estate. We expose its data through documented, versioned interfaces, without touching it or committing you to a migration.

Carry the load that is coming

The system absorbs everyday load, but activity has grown faster than the architecture originally planned for, and peaks expose limits nothing yet lets you pinpoint. We instrument it first, then rework only the paths the measurements point to.

Talk it through with one of our engineers. Thirty minutes is usually enough to tell whether we are the right people for it.
