Code takeover and technical debt audit in Luxembourg

Has your original developer left the project? Has your offshore team left you with an unstable or undocumented application? Taking over a software project with no history is an operational risk.

Based in Luxembourg, Deepy Consulting secures your applications and information systems and takes back control of them. Through a 10-day rapid audit (from €5,000 excl. VAT), we map the technical debt, secure your cloud infrastructure and deliver a clear roadmap to stabilise and evolve your product.

How it works, step by step

  1. The rapid audit: a complete assessment

Before touching a single line of code, we run an in-depth technical due diligence. The aim is to check what you actually own: does the source code build correctly? Are the dependencies (npm, pip, composer) up to date, or exposed to known security flaws?

We secure the access chain first (Git repositories, AWS/GCP accounts, DNS, Apple App Store / Google Play) and analyse the database schema.

What you get: a concise executive report for founders, CTOs or investors. It lists the full access inventory, vulnerabilities ranked by risk level, and a realistic costing of the options (keep, refactor or rewrite).

  2. Stabilise production

Reproducible deployments, monitoring, backups proven by an actual restore, then fixes for the defects your users run into. No new features until the foundations hold.

What you get: a delivery pipeline that works without the previous vendor, alerting in place, priority fixes live.

  3. Write the handover down

Architecture, runbooks, decisions and known debt live in the repository, not in one person’s head. If you hire a CTO or build an in-house team, this is where they start.

What you get: architecture and operations documentation, and a prioritised technical debt register.

  4. Move the product forward

Once the base is reliable, we pick up the roadmap in short releases: over the long term as your technical team, or alongside your own people until they take over.

What you get: regular, reviewed and tested releases, with product knowledge documented and ready to hand over to your team at any time.

Sound familiar?

Has your offshore vendor gone quiet, or has the project stalled?

It happens often: the business relationship has soured, or the external team has been reassigned. Your application is live, but the smallest bug becomes critical because nobody has access to the servers or control of the Git repository.

Before touching the code, we urgently secure your digital assets: recovering credentials (AWS, OVH, Vercel), transferring repositories (GitHub/GitLab) and auditing confidential environment variables.

Has your original developer left the project?

Everything rested on one person. Hosting accounts, the domain name or the store accounts are sometimes still in their name, and their shortcuts are written down nowhere.

We first transfer that access into your name, then rebuild that knowledge from the code and from production. Everything is documented in the repository, so the next departure no longer puts you at risk.

Is this for you?

A good fit if…

  • You own the code, or can secure ownership under your contract.
  • The product has users and has to keep running during the takeover.
  • You need a partner to maintain and evolve the product over the long term, or to bridge the gap until an in-house team takes over.

Not the right fit if…

  • Ownership of the code is disputed: that is a legal question to settle before any technical takeover.
  • You have already decided on a full rewrite and just need hands to build it: an audit would add nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Do we really have to rewrite everything from scratch?

It is what many decision-makers fear, but in practice it is very rarely the right answer. Rewriting software from the ground up freezes work on your business features for months and costs far more than a targeted takeover.

Our approach favours targeted refactoring: we isolate the healthy modules and rework only the critical or unstable parts (the API, database handling or the CI/CD pipeline). A full rewrite is recommended only as a last resort, when the technical debt makes maintenance prohibitively expensive compared with rebuilding.

We do not have all the access. Is that a blocker?

No, it is the usual situation. The audit starts with the inventory: repository, hosting, domain name, app store accounts and third-party services. We help you recover what is missing from the previous vendor and flag what cannot be recovered, so you decide with the full picture.

How much does a code takeover cost?

The initial audit starts at €5,000 excl. VAT for 10 working days: code health, a full access inventory, vulnerabilities ranked by risk level and a costing of the options (keep, refactor or rewrite). Its scope and price are agreed up front. Costing the stabilisation is one of its deliverables: you know what the takeover will cost before you commit to it.

Can we share the audit with our investors?

Yes, it is written for them as much as for you: code health, risks and the estimated cost of addressing them, without jargon. It can feed into technical due diligence or serve as the starting point for a future CTO.

Do you work outside Luxembourg, in Metz for example?

Our office is in Esch-sur-Alzette, right on the French border. We work on site in Luxembourg, Metz and Thionville. Beyond that, we work fully remotely and travel to France, Belgium or Luxembourg when a project calls for it.
